Peter Grant is an officer with the Metropolitan Police, assigned - due to a series of bizarre events and a complete inability to keep his nose out of anything - to the Folly, the small branch of the Met assigned to look into the supernatural, the superhuman, and everything else the higher ups would rather not admit exists.

Physically he's a pretty average human Londoner, but he can do occasional magic which is visible to others.
